Rice Krispie Treats & Puppy Chow Mix

On Saturday afternoon, around 5:00 pm, boychild climbs downstairs and sits in front of me with a two-page paper from school. I asked, "what do I have to sign?" He chuckles and says, "oh... the 8th graders are stepping up and participating in a charity drive to make money for some children's hospital." He then shoves the recipe for the Puppy Chow in my hand.

First... I suppose I'm happy he didn't wait until Sunday to hand this recipe to me. I actually had several boxes of Chex Mix cereal as I have promised to make Jerel aka Daddy a big ass bag of the original party mix.

Sorry Jerel.... I had to use 18 cups of the cereal today to make two batches of the Puppy Chow. So... before we started the Puppy Chow.... I did make some rice krisipie treats for Alex... he's been asking for them since Christmas... and I just hadn't gotten around to it.

And for those of you that have never had the Puppy Chow... here's the recipe:

In a saucepan or microwave, melt together:
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup peanut butter

Once it is blended together, remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla.

Pour this chocolate mixture over 9 cups of Chex Mix cereal (we used corn and rice). Then place in a 2 gallon plastic bag (I just used my huge That's-a-bowl from Tupperware) and sprinkle 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar on top of the chocolately gooey mixture.

Toss until powdered sugar is well distributed. Cool on waxed paper... and then store in air-tight container.

Not sure if I've said Hello before. So, if not, I say it now.

I'm enjoying your Blog, but I have a bad habit of commenting _toooooooooo_ much in Blogs. Which must become a bit dull for people, after a while.

Oh sure, we all love to find comments. But from the same 'smilnsigh', all the time? Nahhhhh... ,-)

So, I read here and enjoy. Letting you know this. And letting you know that I'm trying to break my too-frequent-commenting habit. :-)

P.S. Hope you've warmed up by today, in 'your neck of the woods.'
