Top of the Rock

After a cocktails reception in the Executive Suite of the corporate headquarters for the company that I work at, a group of us ventured out into the streets of New York. Our goal was the Empire State Building, but after being told by several New Yorkers that the lines were long, the crowds and all that waiting... we decided to go to the "Top of the Rock". Now... it was again cold, and drizzly... but we were determined to enjoy New York.

Everyone was right.............. no lines to purchase your ticket to get up to the top. However, the ticket seller said something about following the red carpet... and since we were outside... it took us a few minutes to find the red carpet.



The elevator (which has a see through top) showers you with a light show as you zoom up 68 floors. Then you wind around until you emerge on the observation deck which is on the 70th floor. The view was breathtaking...although my camera didn't really capture what we were seeing.



The wind was certainly strong so far above. If you are ever in New York, you should check this site out.... and especially at night.... it's a pretty amazing view.
