The Odd Life of Timothy Green
It was a long day at work. The last hour seemed like an eternity. However, my day was quite productive and I guess it should have been since it seemed to last 48 hours.
Driving home it was rainy and overcast. I didn't want to bother with dinner. I just wanted to curl up with some good food and a movie.
The men in my life agreed it was a perfect night for Chinese take-out so we called in 3 orders of General Tso's chicken from China Cottage. Gary was the adventurous one who ventured out to retrieve our food.
We ate far too quickly and Alex went off into his bedroom. Gary and I cleaned the kitchen and then off to the living room. I popped in "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" and for the next 1 hour 40 minutes we settled down to view a very enjoyable flick.
Have you seen this one? What is the perfect child? To Cindy and Jim Green, it didn't matter, they just wanted one. The story begins with the Greens taking to an adoption agency administrator on why they would be good parents. Then the story flashes to the Greens in the doctor's office and receiving the news they will never have a child. The Greens go home, Cindy has a good cry and Jim takes out a notepad and says "For years we have been thinking about what our child would have been like, so let's have a kid" and starts to write. "Our kid would never give up" is the first thing he says to get his depressed wife interested in his idea. They open a bottle of wine, and together write down all the qualities that they would like to have had in their child. "He'd be honest to a fault", "he'd have a good heart", "a Picasso with a pencil", "loved and be loved", "not athletic, but just once score the winning goal". They put the pieces of paper into a wooden box and bury it in the wife's garden. Putting to rest their dreams of a child along with it.
But then some Disney magic begins.
That night a heavy rain pours down only on the Green's property. They wake up hearing noises in the house and they hear music in their unused nursery. When they open the door, a 10 year old mud-covered boy, introduces himself as Timothy, the only boy name they had picked out along with 54 girl names. They discovered he is not lost or abandoned but came from their garden and has leaves growing on his ankles.
Timothy tells them, "please don't ask about my leaves. But you can look at them if you want" Then he calls them Mom and Dad and the Greens realize they are now a family.

The movie is just visually beautiful and the autumn colors are brilliant. The boy who portrays Timothy and the actress who portrays Joni are pretty amazing little actors.
I won't give the story away; but I think this is a great family movie; and it might just become one of those movies you watch yearly (in Autumn).
Odeya Rush as Joni
Cameron "CJ" Adams
If you haven't seen this movie and enjoy a good feel fantasy movie.... then I think you might just enjoy this one.
