Dead Ever After: A Sookie Stackhouse novel
Every May I get so excited to get the new Sookie Stackhouse book. And I'll admit that the last 3 books has been somewhat lame. But "Dead Ever After" was the last book in the series and I just had to buy it.
I purchased it last night and began to read with excitement. I wanted to return to my favorite characters. I flipped page after page trying to find them. And guess what? You won't find them; they aren't there.
This book had to be written by someone else. The style is completely different from the last 12 books. And I always thought 13 to be a lucky number...
The plot was stupid and filled with inconsistencies from the previous books. Previous characters came back in the story and then disappeared. It was so disjointed. But I kept reading, hoping that it would get better.
But it never did.
The Kindle edition costs $12.99. What a waste of money. The book would have been disappointing if I got it free from the library. The book was just HORRIBLE. The Sookie we grew to love was gone, the sarcastic and loveable Pam gone, Eric Northman, the vampire we grew to love, gone. I realize that once "True Blood" began, Charlaine's books began to change but if you were tired of writing them, why oh why would you "finish" with this crap.
So now I'll turn to Alan Ball and hope that he will keep the characters he has created on HBO's "True Blood" true to the vision.
