Today I'm Thankful for ...
Yesterday we had a warm-up. It rained all day and then the temperature dropped down to 20 degrees. Everything is now frozen.
I did a little shopping this morning and went past our old apartment building. The parking lot was an ice rink. The snowplow guy always comes around Midnight, when everyone is home and asleep. Therefore the parking lot never gets scraped properly or salted properly.
I'm thankful I don't live there. I'm thankful I have a house with a 2 car garage. For the past several years a lot of my mind was worried about getting home at an early time so I could get a parking place. I didn't leave my home in the evening because I knew I would never get a close parking spot and with the parking lot so icy, I felt it was too dangerous to leave. I've had two back surgeries and I have this fear of falling and hurting my back.
But now that we live in this place, I have found a freedom that is exciting. I don't have to rush to get home early. I can leave my home after dinner and know I will get a parking space. Such a little thing really, but what a difference it has had on my life.
