Now I love Anthony Hopkins, that's a given. And I have enjoyed Alfred Hitchcock's movies and even his TV show... but Hopkins as Hitchcock... I might just be in heaven. And as the movie begins, and Hitchcock turns towards the screen and says "Good Evening".... yikes Anthony Hopkins made me a believer.
First of all.... the makeup --- fantastic. Hopkins was literally transformed into Hitchcock.
And Hopkins' voice... oh he got the essence of it down ... creepingly so. Take a peek into the movie...
Helen Mirren is amazing as Hitchcock's wife Alma. Toni Collette as Hitchcock's assistant was perfection. Scarlet Johansson played Janet Leigh. The shower scene with Hitch wielding the knife is so good.
The movie is about the making Psycho, but it's also about a man turning 60 and Hollywood telling him he's too old. It's about Hitch's and Alma's marriage. It's about Hitch's controlling attitude with his leading ladies. I really enjoyed this movie. I'm disappointed I didn't see it on the large screen; but if you get a chance to watch it, please do so.... and let me know what you think.
